Virginia Tech McCormick Farm

Virginia Tech McCormick Farm is off I-81 exit 205, then about .5 mi. e. on Rapine Rd., then n. to 128 McCormick Farm Cir. Cyrus McCormick and his father perfected and marketed the first mechanical grain reaper here in 1831. Cyrus’ smithy, now a museum, contains a replica of the original reaper. Also on-site are a restored grist mill and a nature trail.
