VMI Museum is in Jackson Memorial Hall, off Main St. on Letcher Ave. at the Virginia Military Institute. One of the state’s oldest museums, it houses items illustrating the history and traditions of the nation’s first state military college. Gen. Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson’s uniform, his bullet-pierced raincoat from Chancellorsville, and the mounted hide of his horse, Little Sorrel, are displayed.
