Mary Washington House

Mary Washington House is at 1200 Charles St. George Washington bought the house in 1772 for his mother, Mary Ball Washington, who lived here until her death in 1789. Washington visited his mother in March 1789 prior to being elected president. He was seeking her blessing on the next phase of his life, which she readily gave. She died a few months later. The home contains some of Mrs. Washington’s favorite possessions. Guides are dressed in period costumes.
