Chesterfield County Museum and Old Jail

Chesterfield County Museum and Old Jail is on SR 10 in the Courthouse Complex at 6813 Mimms Loop. The history of Chesterfield County is chronicled through a variety of exhibits, from prehistoric times into the 20th century. Built as a replica of the 1750 courthouse, the museum displays ancient tools, Native American artifacts, Civil War items and a 19th-century country store. The museum also includes rotating exhibits. Next door, the 1892 Old Jail features displays relating to public safety and fire protection in Chesterfield County as well as the original iron-barred jail cells.
