Joint Base Myer—Henderson Hall is next to Arlington National Cemetery, off I-395 exit 8A (Washington Blvd.), following signs. The military installation is accessed via Hatfield Gate, off Washington Blvd. The U.S. Army's historic Fort Myer, originally established in 1863, became a joint base of the United States military with the U.S. Marine Corps' Henderson Hall in 2005. Tenants include The United States Army Band “Pershing's Own” and the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), whose duties include conducting ceremonies for visiting dignitaries and military funerals, serving as escort to the president and standing guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
