Stowe Auto Toll Road

Stowe Auto Toll Road, entered from SR 108, 6 mi. n.w., is a 4.3-mile unpaved road traversing heavily forested slopes to about the 3,600-foot level of Mount Mansfield; several hiking trails ranging from moderate to difficult continue to the summit areas. Parking and portable toilets are available at the end of the road; facilities also are available at the base of the mountain.

Motorcycles and bicycles are not permitted. Note: The winding road has some sharp, steep curves and is not recommended for novice drivers or for vehicles longer than a pickup truck. The vehicle should be in good condition; brakes, radiator and transmission should be checked.
