Shelburne Farms, 1.5 mi. w. of US 7 at 1611 Harbor Rd., is a 1,400-acre working dairy farm operated by a non-profit organization dedicated to environmental education. Their award-winning Farmhouse Cheddar cheese is available for sampling and purchase.
The historic property on the shores of Lake Champlain features 400 acres of woodland and 10 miles of walking trails. Visitors also can explore the Farm Barn and Children’s Farmyard, where they can see farm animals, participate in scheduled daily farm chores or watch Farmhouse Cheddar being made from the milk of Brown Swiss cows.
Pets on leash are permitted November through March only.
Guided tours are available. Pet friendly (call for restrictions/fees.). Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
