Vermont Institute of Natural Science

Vermont Institute of Natural Science is on SR 4, 3.5 mi. w. of I-89 exit 1 at 149 Natures Way. Located adjacent to scenic Quechee Gorge, this environmental learning center encompasses 47 acres inhabited by migratory songbirds, amphibians and other Vermont wildlife. Such raptors as owls, bald eagles, red-tailed hawks and peregrine falcons can be viewed in 17 outdoor enclosures.

Educational programs allow visitors to get an up-close look at live raptors, and nature trails encourage exploration. There is an outdoor adventure playscape and a Forest Canopy walk as well as the stroller- and wheelchair-friendly McKnight Trail which winds through the lush woodlands for .25 miles.

Picnicking is permitted.
