AAA Editor Notes
Hole 'n the Rock is 15 mi. s. via US 191. This 14-room home—excavated from solid sandstone by Albert and Gladys Christensen, a process that took 20 years—looks much as it did when the couple lived there in the 1940s and '50s. A rock and cactus garden is on the grounds, and a likeness of Franklin D. Roosevelt is carved on the outside face of the home.
Animal residents at the onsite zoo include a camel, a zebra, sheep, goats, pigs, wallabies, emus, alpacas, and miniature donkeys and horses.
Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted.
