Armand Bayou Nature Center

Armand Bayou Nature Center is 6.3 mi. e. of I-45 at 8500 Bay Area Blvd. A 2,500-acre preserve includes tall-grass prairie, estuarine bayou and coastal woods. Animals on exhibit range from local reptiles and amphibians to American bison. On the preserve is an 1890s farm exhibit. Hiking trails are available; guided hikes and demonstrations are held Saturdays and Sundays. Adjacent is Bay Area Park, which has picnic facilities and a paddling trail on the bayou.

Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
