MacKenzie Park adjoins Lubbock on the northeast. Prairie Dog Town, a community of several hundred of the rodents, was established in the early 1940s. Park facilities include picnic areas, baseball fields, a golf course, a disc golf course, an amusement park and a sculpture garden.
