AAA Editor Notes
McKittrick Canyon is at the end of an access road off US 62/180 in Guadalupe Mountains National Park. The canyon is a mixture of desert, canyon woodland and highland forest. Prickly pear and agave grow at the entrance; farther along maples, ferns and wildflowers flourish. At the far end, the pine and Douglas fir of the mountain highlands appear. In late October the fall leaves resemble northern woods.
