Bishop's Palace

Bishop's Palace is at 1402 Broadway. Designed for a local attorney in 1887, the three-story residence took 5 years to build. The exterior is sandstone, limestone and rough granite. The interior, furnished in period, features a hand-carved staircase, jeweled glass windows and a mantel that won first prize at the 1876 World Fair. The Catholic Diocese purchased the house to be the seat of the local bishop in 1923.
