Big Thunder Gold Mine

Big Thunder Gold Mine is on SR 40, 3 blks. e. of the Keystone traffic signal. Visitors can take an underground, 45-minute guided tour of the 1890s gold mine. A mill features mining, milling and assay equipment from gold rush days. Gold and gem panning beside Battle Creek is offered, with guaranteed gold.

Full- and half-day trips feature off-site panning at a Black Hills National Forest claim; participants learn to classify and sluice in a creek.
