AAA Editor Notes
Coastal Discovery Museum, 70 Honey Horn Dr., features some basic exhibits about cultural heritage and natural history. The property's .9-mile self-guiding tour includes a 1,200-square-foot butterfly enclosure, bog garden, camellia garden, grape arbor, cemetery, and a horse barn where Marsh Tacky horses reside. The animals have a direct lineage to original breeds brought to North America by the Spanish; less than 300 remain in the world. The tour also includes three boardwalks where you can view osprey and fiddler crabs; the structures extend over Jarvis Creek and include interpretive panels, interactive exhibits and viewing scopes.
Guided nature walks, history tours, subject-specific talks, and off-site cruises and kayak nature trips are offered and vary seasonally.
Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 15 minutes minimum.
