AAA Editor Notes
Wascana Centre surrounds Wascana Lake. This 930-hectare (2,300-acre) park complex is the city's recreational and cultural center and includes the Conexus Arts Centre, a performing arts venue. Wascana Place has information about attractions and event listings; on the building's fourth floor is the Joe Moran Gallery, which exhibits photographs from 1882 to the present.
Points of interest include Speakers' Corner, a circular plaza located in the park's southwest corner. Ten vintage gas lamps surround the plaza, which was dedicated in 1966 as a tribute to free speech and the people's right to assemble. Waterfowl display ponds are a haven for geese and ducks. Ferry boats transport visitors to Willow Island, a picnic area.
Picnicking is permitted.
