AAA Editor Notes
Redwood Library and Athenaeum is at 50 Bellevue Ave. Designed by Peter Harrison, the library was built in 1750 and contains many valuable books. It is said to be the oldest U.S. lending library in continuous use within its original building. A permanent exhibition of early 18th- and 19th-century portraits includes several by Gilbert Stuart.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
