The North Light

The North Light is 4 mi. from the ferry dock to Settlers' Rock (via taxi, bicycle or moped rental), then a .5-mi. walk n. along a rocky beach. The functioning 1867 granite lighthouse is now a maritime interpretive center. A museum on the first floor features displays about the lighthouse's history and renovation efforts, marine disasters and lifesaving, as well as wildlife photographs.

Self-guiding tours of the interpretive center are available July 5-Columbus Day and on fall weekends (weather permitting). Phone 2 days in advance to arrange transportation for the physically impaired.
