Boréalis: Centre for the History of the Paper Industry

Boréalis: Centre for the History of the Paper Industry (Boréalis: Centre d'histoire de l'industrie papetière) is at 200 av. des Draveurs. Interactive exhibits, multimedia displays and manufacturing equipment are housed inside a former Canadian International Paper (CIP) water filtration plant. Available in either English or French, a guided tour explains the history of the local paper production industry and includes a walk through the basement's cavernous water storage vaults.

Visitors also can participate in a paper-making workshop. Special evening events, tours, and musical and theatrical productions also are offered; phone ahead for more information.

Note: This is an industrial building, so some areas may have steep stairs or low-hanging pipes.

Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
