Fairmont Le Château Frontenac

Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, 1 rue des Carrières next to Place d'Armes, was built in 1893 in the Medieval French style, with numerous turrets and copper roofs, and is an example of 19th-century Canadian Railway architecture. The painted ceilings and handsome metalwork of the banisters in the lobby recall its lavish past. The château was the meeting place for Winston Churchill, Franklin Roosevelt and leaders of other Allied nations during World War II; it is today part of the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts chain.

Strategically located, the castle-like edifice faces Lévis and Île d'Orléans and commands views of the St. Lawrence River.
