AAA Editor Notes
Olympic Park (Parc Olympique), 46 hectares (114 acres) in the eastern part of the city, with an entrance at 4545 av. Pierre-de-Coubertin (M: Pie-IX or Viau), was host to the 1976 Summer Olympics. A major highlight of the park is the 165-metre-high (541-ft.) Montréal Tower, which inclines at a 45-degree angle. An observatory at the top of the tower offers 80-kilometre (50-mi.) views of the Montréal region. It is reached by a funicular that takes visitors to the top via a cable system along the back of the structure. The tower also houses the Since 1976 exhibit, detailing the construction and history of the park.
Guided tours of Olympic Stadium are available. Olympic Park is also home to Montréal Biodôme and Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium, two of the five attractions making up Montréal Space for Life.
Note: Renovation of the Olympic Stadium roof begins summer 2024.
