Montréal Insectarium (Insectarium de Montréal) is at 4581 rue Sherbrooke Est, part of Montréal Space for Life (M: Pie-IX). Leave the city behind and enter into the underground Alcoves of the insectarium, where a number of galleries detail how an insect perceives its environment—from screens with abstract projections to narrow passages which simulate how insects move through tight spaces.
In the vivariums located within Tête-à-Tête, six niches offer up-close views of featured insects. Some 3,000 specimens can be found in the rounded walls of the Dome, where insect diversity and adaptability can be seen in two rows of 36 displays. Emerge into the Great Vivarium, where visitors learn about the insects' universe—from their behaviors to their impact on the environment. Watch the life cycle of a butterfly in a demonstration nursery or listen to guides as they take a look at the insects' most fascinating behaviors.
