Château Ramezay—Historic Site and Museum of Montréal

Château Ramezay—Historic Site and Museum of Montréal (Château Ramezay—Musée et site historique de Montréal), 280 Notre-Dame Est in Old Montréal (M: Champ-de-Mars), was built in the early 18th century for Claude de Ramezay, the acting governor of New France 1714-16 and the governor of Montréal for nearly two decades. The museum traces the history of the city and the province from pre-contact Amerindian times through the early 20th century. An immersive permanent exhibit tells the story of 18th-century life in New France from the perspective of the château’s servants. Temporary exhibits about various historical topics are also presented.

The property has been meticulously restored and includes a small, 18th-century rear garden with multilingual interpretive panels describing the estate's flowers, fruits and vegetables, and medicinal plants.
