Manicouagan 2 and Manicouagan 5 Hydroelectric Dams and Installations (Installations de Production d'Électricité de Manicouagan 2 et de Manicouagan 5), 22 km (14 mi.) and 214 km (133 mi.) n. on Hwy. 389, respectively, are among the world's largest hydroelectric power dams, each capable of producing more than 1 million watts.
Manic 2 has a 70-metre (230-ft.) waterfall and a 518-square-kilometre (200-sq.-mi.) reservoir. The Manic 5, Barrage Daniel-Johnson, which has a 2,000-square-kilometre (772-sq.-mi.) reservoir and a 150-metre (490-ft.) waterfall, is the largest arch and buttress type dam in the world.
