C. Howard Hiester Canal Center

C. Howard Hiester Canal Center, next to Berks County Heritage Center's information center at 1102 Red Bridge Rd., has a collection of artifacts representing 19th-century travel on the Union and Schuylkill canals. Videos offer historic information. Among the large exhibits are a tugboat pilothouse, a tollbooth and a coal scow that was converted to a houseboat for the Hiester family, who operated a boatyard.
