AAA Editor Notes
Shriver House Museum, 309 Baltimore St., is restored and furnished to its 1860s appearance. Guides in period costumes conduct tours and interpret the Shriver family's experience of living deep within Civil War battle lines. During the Battle of Gettysburg, Confederate sharpshooters took aim from positions in the attic; the house also served as a hospital for wounded soldiers. Visitors can explore the grounds before or after the guided tour. Candlelight tours are offered by reservation during the holiday season.
