African Lion Safari 4 km (2.5 mi.) s. via Hwy. 8 following signs to Safari Rd., has more than 1,000 exotic birds and animals, including lions, zebras, monkeys, giraffes and rhinoceroses, roaming freely in a 303-hectare (750-acre) drive-through park. Among the denizens of the North American reserve section are bison, elk and deer.
Other highlights include the Elephant Swim, Birds of Prey Conservation Centre with its breeding and rehabilitation facilities, Pets' Corner, African Queen boat tour, a scenic railway tour, three bird and animal shows, Jungle Playground and Misumu Bay Wet Play (seasonal).
Visitors may drive their own cars along the 10-kilometre (6-mi.) trail or take the guided safari tour bus for an additional fee. If driving, visitors must remain in their cars with doors and windows closed as well as doors locked; convertibles are prohibited.
Height restrictions may apply in some children's areas, and children must be supervised at all times. Pets are not allowed anywhere on the grounds.
Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 5 hours minimum.
