Kirtland Temple

Kirtland Temple is at 9020 Chillicothe Rd. near Historic Kirtland; tours begin at the nearby visitor center at 7809 Joseph St. Kirtland once was home to some of the 19th century's most successful community builders. Under the leadership of Joseph Smith Jr., followers built this temple 1833-36. In 1838 it was the center of community life for more than 2,000 believers; within a year, only 100 members remained. Guided 1-hour tours begin with an audiovisual presentation.

The 12,000-square-foot Kirtland Temple Visitor Center features interactive museum exhibits and video.
