Adena Mansion & Gardens is off Pleasant Valley Rd., just n.w. of jct. US 35 and SR 104 at 847 Adena Rd. Adena once belonged to Thomas Worthington, sixth governor of Ohio. Furnished in period, the Georgian stone mansion was completed in 1807. A 12,500-square-foot visitor center offers interactive exhibits about early 1800s life in Ohio; five outbuildings and formal gardens are on the grounds. An overlook provides a view of the hills that are reproduced on the state seal. The mansion may only be seen via a guided tour.
