Scandinavian Heritage Park, 1020 S. Broadway, displays flags of the five Scandinavian countries—Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, and Iceland—as well as those of Canada and the United States. Other features include a full-size replica of the 1250 A.D. Gol Stave Church in Oslo, Norway; a 30-foot-high Dala horse, the most recognized Swedish symbol; a 1928 Danish-style windmill; an eternal flame memorial dedicated to Norwegian Sondre Norheim, the “Father of Modern Skiing”; a statue of Icelandic explorer Leif Ericson (Leifr Eiriksson in the native tongue); a 1775 stabbur, or storehouse; and an 18th-century house that was dismantled and shipped to North Dakota from Norway.
