AAA Editor Notes
Dixon House, 529 S. Front St., is part of the Tryon Palace complex and was built in the early 1830s for merchant and former New Bern mayor George W. Dixon. Dixon eventually lost the house to foreclosure, and years later it served as a hospital for the 9th Vermont Infantry during the Federal occupation of New Bern during the Civil War. Antiques from the Federal and Empire periods decorate the interior.
