Whiteside Mountain is 5 mi. e. on US 64, s. on Whiteside Mountain Rd. (SR 1600), following signs. More than 390 million years old, Whiteside Mountain features sheer 750-foot-high cliffs, wildflowers and peregrine falcons which nest on rock ledges from January until summer.
A 2-mile loop trail leads to the summit at 4,930 feet. The main trail is fairly steep and consists of log and rock steps; for an easier hike to the top, a wide roadbed curves through dense forest.
Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
