Duke Homestead State Historic Site and Tobacco Museum
AAA Editor Notes
Duke Homestead State Historic Site and Tobacco Museum is off I-85 exit 175 to 2828 Duke Homestead Rd. The 1852 main house, two early tobacco factories, a packhouse and a curing barn reflect the historical impact of the tobacco industry on North Carolina. The museum includes a moving mannequin that plants tobacco and explains—with a North Carolina accent—the “13-month crop.” The visitor center offers a museum and a movie about the history of tobacco.
