Great Smoky Mountains Railroad

Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, departing the Bryson City depot, 45 Mitchell St., operates various half-day and full-day round-trip excursions, including the Tuckasegee River Excursion to the historic town of Dillsboro and the Nantahala Gorge Excursion. Seating is offered in open cars, coaches, crown coaches and club cars. On weekends there are Gourmet Dinner Trains and Mystery Theatre Dinner Trains. Dinosaur Train trips, based on Jim Henson's popular TV series, are offered for three weekends in July and August. The Polar Express runs early November through late December. “Peanuts—The Great Pumpkin Patch Express” runs weekends in October. The Peanuts Easter Beagle Express runs on Easter weekend. An animal petting area and musical entertainment also are offered.
