Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site

Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site is 2 mi. n. on US 9 from the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site. This 1898 mansion exemplifies the elegance of Beaux-Arts architecture during the late 19th-century “Gilded Age.” Known as an “American country place,” it is adorned with original French and Italian furnishings, Flemish tapestries and exquisite Oriental rugs. The grounds afford magnificent views of the Hudson River and the restored Italian Gardens.
