Adirondack Experience, on SR 30, explores the culture, environment and history of the Adirondack region from the early 1800s to the present. Set on 121 landscaped acres overlooking Blue Mountain Lake, the museum has indoor and outdoor exhibits about boating, outdoor recreation, transportation, fine arts, industry, rustic traditions, community life, tourism and the environment.
Life in the Adirondacks, the main exhibit area, includes a theater showing a video about the region’s beauty as well as galleries describing the people who have been drawn to the area over the years, the history of the Mohawk and Abenaki peoples, the range of outdoor occupations in the park and all the various efforts to preserve the Adirondacks for future generations.
Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 3 hours minimum.
