El Rancho de las Golondrinas is off I-25 exit 276, following signs to 334 Los Pinos Rd. The living-history museum's name means “The Ranch of the Swallows.” It was once a stopping place on El Camino Real (The Royal Road) from Mexico City to Old Santa Fe. Exhibits depict Spanish colonial life in New Mexico. Restored buildings include an 18th-century placita house with a defensive tower as well as a mill, smithy, schoolhouse and chapel. A 1.5-mile path leads to the buildings.
