City of Rocks State Park

City of Rocks State Park is 30 mi. n.w. via US 180, then 3 mi. n.e. on SR 61. Millions of years ago wind and water shaped volcanic rock into the curious monolithic formations that give this 2,932-acre park its name. The Mimbres Indians and Spanish conquistadors left evidence of their visits. A cactus garden, hiking trails, interpretive exhibits and visitor center also are featured.

Camping is permitted. Picnicking is permitted.
