ABQ BioPark Zoo is at 903 Tenth St. S.W. The zoo houses more than 1,000 animals representing some 250 species in a variety of naturalistic habitats. Popular residents include chimpanzees, gorillas, elephants, polar bears, giraffes, hippos, Komodo dragons, jaguars and zebras. Birds of the Americas features the hyacinth macaw and roadrunner.
The 6-acre Africa exhibit is home to warthogs, cheetahs, rhinos and Marabou storks. Seal and sea lion feedings take place daily in a 350,000-gallon tank. Youngsters will enjoy the Colores Kids Playground, which has a jungle gym for ages 3-12 and a splash pad that's open in summer.
