Doo Wop Experience Museum
AAA Editor Notes
Doo Wop Experience Museum is at 4500 Ocean Ave. at Burk Ave. and across from the convention center. The Wildwoods, a refurbished Surfside restaurant from the 1960s, is said to contain the country's largest collection of mid-century resort architecture. The museum features 1950s and '60s furniture and household items, a diner interior, jukebox and reference books designed to reflect what it was like during the period when Doo-Wop architecture and motels were in their heyday.
Short videos and a video board display make up the I-Wall, an interactive exhibit about the area and its motels. A neon sign garden showcases restored motel and restaurant signs. An optional 90-minute bus tour carries guests to various Doo-Wop locations nearby.
Guided tours are available. Food is available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
