Somers Mansion

Somers Mansion is at 1000 Shore Rd. (CR 585). Built around 1725 by Richard Somers, son of an early area settler, the three-story brick dwelling is reputed to be the oldest house in Atlantic County and was continuously inhabited by the Somers family until 1937. Displays include 18th-century furnishings. An interesting architectural detail is the interior woodwork decorated with heart-shaped perforations.
