Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center

Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center is off I-287 exit 30A, 3 mi. s. on Maple Ave., then 1 mi. e. to 190 Lord Stirling Rd. The center is on a 450-acre tract of the Great Swamp Basin. The interpretive building, one of the country's first public buildings to be heated and cooled by solar power in the late 1970s, offers a library, exhibit areas and nature programs. The sanctuary has nature trails, boardwalks, observation towers and blinds that allow visitors to view native wildlife.

Note: Pets, horses, bicycles and motorized vehicles are prohibited on the nature trails.
