AAA Editor Notes
Saint John City Market is at 47 Charlotte St. (near King's Sq.). One of Canada's oldest markets, it opened for business in 1876. Given that 19th-century Saint John was a leading shipbuilding center, it stands to reason that the building's hand-hewn ceiling timbers resemble the inverted hull of a ship. Vendors sell fresh seafood, meats, produce, cheeses, coffee and baked goods, and you can browse for locally made handicrafts and nosh on international delicacies at a variety of restaurants.

Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
