Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum is just s. of downtown at 490 S. Center St. (between W. Liberty and Stewart sts.). Bright, clean and airy, the museum (known locally as “The Discovery”) offers interactive galleries designed with both kids and grown-ups in mind.
Exhibits range in focus from Nevada history to the artistic and scientific endeavors of Da Vinci to the intricacies of human anatomy. Other features are a replica of an Ichthyosaur skeleton; an 80-foot-long model of the Truckee River; and the Cloud Climber, a three-story climbing structure. The Discovery also hosts traveling exhibitions.
Families are permitted to bring snacks or lunch to the museum, but food and drinks can only be consumed in a designated area inside the museum.
Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
