AAA Editor Notes
Guibourd-Valle House is at 1 N. Fourth St. This French Colonial vertical log house was built in 1806 for Jacques Jean René Guibourd, a French settler. The restored residence contains elegant 18th-century French furnishings, and visitors can enter the attic to see hand-hewn Norman trusses. A garden enclosed by a brick wall contains a variety of flowering plants and trees. Guides in period garb relate the story of Guibourd, his family, the house and Ste. Genevieve around the time of the Louisiana Purchase.
