Shaw Nature Reserve

Shaw Nature Reserve is at jct. SR 100 and I-44 exit 253. The reserve protects some 2,500 acres of natural Ozark landscape and offers 14 miles of hiking trails through such habitats as a floodplain forest, oak-hickory woods, glades, bluffs, a tall-grass prairie, savannah and wetlands. The People and the Land exhibit in the 1879 Joseph H. Manor House deals with environmental and conservation themes. The 5-acre Whitmire Wildflower Garden displays flowers native to Missouri and the eastern United States, accented by native grasses, shrubs and trees.
