Hjemkomst Center

Hjemkomst Center is at 202 First Ave. N. The museum features the Hjemkomst, a 77-foot replica of an ancient Viking ship. Built by Robert Asp, in 1982 the ship sailed more than 6,100 miles from Duluth to Bergen, Norway, and back. Photographs and a 28-minute film recount the voyage. Also on the grounds is a full-scale replica of the Hopperstad Stave Church in Vik, Norway. The 12th-century stave church is decorated with both Viking and Christian motifs.

Traveling exhibits are presented in Heritage Hall. The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County museum houses local history displays and temporary exhibits.
