Chik-Wauk Museum and Nature Center

Chik-Wauk Museum and Nature Center is 55 mi. n.w. via CR 12 (Gunflint Tr.) to 28 Moose Pond Dr. Housed in the historic Chik-Wauk Lodge, built in 1934, the museum educates visitors about the geology, flora and fauna of northeastern Minnesota. Interactive displays and exhibits depict how prehistoric peoples, Native Americans, French-Canadian voyageurs, miners and loggers lived in this rugged wilderness of dense forests, sheer cliffs and island-studded lakes.

Five hiking trails ranging from easy to difficult traverse the nature center grounds. A day trip is a great way to experience the natural beauty of the Gunflint Trail region, Superior National Forest and the Boundary Waters without investing an undue amount of time and effort.
