Legacy of the Lakes Museum

Legacy of the Lakes Museum is downtown at 205 3rd Ave. W. Summer lake vacations have been a fun, relaxing and rejuvenating experience for generations of Minnesota families, and this museum exhibits and preserves that legacy and tradition for the future. “Life at the lake” is represented through boats—both classic wooden boats and shiny fiberglass models with chrome and fins—motors and other boat-related memorabilia.

Interactive displays provide information about famous names in the state's boating history, and photographs of grand lodgings celebrate the era of Minnesota lake resorts. There's also an impressive and colorful collection of fishing tackle and vintage lures. Traveling exhibits are presented regularly. The grounds feature 2 acres of landscaped gardens.
