National Shrine of the Little Flower
AAA Editor Notes
National Shrine of the Little Flower is at 2100 W. 12 Mile Rd. at jct. SR 1 (Woodward Ave.). The shrine became known through the radio broadcasts of its pastor, Father Charles E. Coughlin, now deceased. A striking feature is the 104-foot crucifixion tower, girded by four crosses; below the figure is a carving of the last words of Christ.
The church is built of granite and limestone interspersed with stone blocks from America’s states and territories; on each is carved the state name and flower.
